Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and frequent reactions on court had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
